If you want the most protein with the fewest carbs and a sensible calorie count, the best fast food orders are plain grilled chicken with a light sauce, or a burrito bowl with doubled meat and a greens base. Fried, breaded and dip-heavy orders can look high in protein, but they often deliver it with far more calories, and breaded items add real carbs.
This page compares complete orders using one simple measure: grams of protein per 100 calories, alongside net carbs. It is a different question from “is this keto?” A meal can be very low in carbs and still be a poor protein deal because most of its calories come from dip.
How to read the comparison
- Protein per 100 calories = protein grams ÷ calories × 100. Higher means more protein for the energy.
- Net carbs = total carbs minus fiber, using the chain’s published values.
- Every row is a complete order, including sauces and toppings, totaled from published component values.

Complete orders compared
| Complete order | Calories | Net carbs | Protein | Protein per 100 kcal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chick-fil-A 30 ct grilled nuggets + 2 Zesty Buffalo sauces | 560 | 5g | 98g | 17.5g |
| Chipotle bowl: double chicken + supergreens only | 375 | 1g | 65g | 17.3g |
| Chick-fil-A 12 ct grilled nuggets + 1 Zesty Buffalo sauce | 225 | 3g | 38g | 16.9g |
| Chipotle bowl: double chicken, supergreens, cheese, sour cream | 595 | 4g | 73g | 12.3g |
| Wingstop 10 classic Original Hot wings + 5 celery sticks, no dip | 910 | 0.5g | 101g | 11.1g |
| Chipotle bowl: chicken, supergreens, cheese, sour cream | 415 | 4g | 41g | 9.9g |
| Wingstop 10 classic Original Hot wings + celery + 1 ranch dip | 1,230 | 2.5g | 102g | 8.3g |
| Chipotle bowl: steak, supergreens, cheese, sour cream | 385 | 4g | 30g | 7.8g |
| Wingstop 10 plain boneless wings + 1 ranch dip | 1,120 | 62g | 41g | 3.7g |
A few notes on the arithmetic:
- The 30 ct nugget order lists 4g carbs and 1g fiber for the nuggets, plus 1g carbs per sauce packet: 6g total, 5g net.
- The double-chicken supergreens bowl is two 4 oz chicken portions (0g carbs, 32g protein each) plus supergreens (3g carbs, 2g fiber, 1g protein).
- Wingstop lists classic Original Hot wings at 0g carbs each; other flavors can list 1g to 4g per wing. Values are rounded, so a 10-wing order is not guaranteed to be carb-free; small amounts can add up.
What the table shows
Dips change the ranking more than the protein does. The same 10 wings drop from 11.1g to 8.3g of protein per 100 calories once a full ranch cup is added, because the cup adds 320 calories and only 1g of protein.
Cheese and sour cream lower the protein per calorie of this bowl. On Chipotle’s guide, 1 oz cheese adds 110 calories and 6g protein, and 2 oz sour cream adds 110 calories and 2g protein. They are fine on keto if you want the fat, but they lower protein density.
Not all meats are equal. Chipotle’s 4 oz steak lists 21g protein against chicken’s 32g, with slightly more carbs. Steak is still low carb, just less protein per scoop.
Breading is the carb source. The boneless wing order has about 60g more carbs than the classic wing order, almost all from the breaded pieces.
How to pick an order for your target
- Find your daily protein range with our protein calculator.
- Divide by your usual meals per day to get a per-meal number.
- Pick an order from the table, or build one, that reaches that number.
- Check calories next. If they are higher than you want, cut the dip or cheese before you cut protein.
- Total the order in our keto fast food calculator so sauces and extras are not forgotten.
Ordering tips that keep protein high
- Double the meat, not the toppings. At Chipotle, the second chicken portion adds 32g protein for 180 calories. A second cheese portion adds 6g protein for 110 calories.
- Pick light sauces. At Chick-fil-A, Zesty Buffalo (25 calories per 21g packet) adds flavor for much less energy than Garden Herb Ranch sauce (100 calories per 21g packet).
- Share or halve the dip. If you want ranch with wings, use part of the cup and log what you actually use.
- Choose bone-in over boneless. In Wingstop’s guide, a classic wing lists 10g protein, while a boneless piece lists 4g to 5g plus 6g to 9g carbs depending on flavor.
A note on realistic numbers
Published nutrition reflects standard recipes and portion sizes. Your bowl may be scooped heavier or lighter, and recipes change. Use these figures as estimates, recheck the chain’s guide every so often, and look at your results over weeks rather than any single meal.
